I'll recap the weekend at lunch, but until then, check out my new espresso maker.
...
Alright, let's go over the highlights:
- Friday night had a nap. Met Mike and some other folks at St. Dymphnea's for Guinness and chips.
Met an uninteresting girl and a guy from Texas. He explained how Texas is divided into five regions; East, North, South, West, and Central. He was from West Texas, which is a bit hillbilly, but not as bad as the desolate South Texas. With that new bit of trivia fresh in my mind I went straight to bed, content in having learned that day's fact. - Saturday, I took myself out for an elaborate sushi lunch. Eating lunch by myself with the paper is a new indulgence I plan to repeat. After lunch I impulse bought the espresso maker, which turned out to be an excellent purchase. It makes a great cup of coffee in less than five minutes. I add a touch of non-dairy creamer to give it the flavor of steamed milk and the result is comparable to the brews I had in Spanish cafes.
- Saturday night early belonged to Penn State. We watched the Nittany Lions stomp the Cornhuskers at Blondie’s with one hundred other PSU alumni. Toss in a few dozen hot wings and pitchers of Miller Lite and you've got yourself a good evening. No pictures due to tight pants with small pockets and a deep fear of losing my camera.
- Saturday night late belongs to the girls of HotJobs and a party at Mod on the Upper West Side. It's good to get out of the dives once in awhile, especially if you can find a swank joint with an open bar.
- Sunday, I took a friend to see 'Igby Goes Down'. Interesting story in the Holden Caulfield vein with the array of characters each appearing very full and rounded due to some really excellent acting. Loved the film, but like every movie he is in, it made me want to smack Ryan Phillippe. Come to think of it, I wanted to wack Jeff Goldbloom along side the head as well. It's ok though, because I think that was the director's intention.
- Sunday night, Susan and I switched between the Sopranos and the Steelers. As the Steelers began to unravel, we turned more and more to the Sopranos. Freakin' Steelers.
That's the gist of the weekend. I wrote about it in such detail because I am home sick now and the only things on TV are 'Young and the Restless' and 'Miss Congeniality'. I took some extra-drowsy cold medicine and soon all will be smooth and quiet.
