Inspired by the 2002 photos I've recently been updating, Alex, Erik and I joined a Sunday evening charter on the Laura Lee out of Robert Moses State Park on Long Island. We all bagged a our limit in bluefish. At the end of the night, I also caught one striper that was just a hair shy of keeper length.

The boat leaves not long before sunset and drifts over feed blues during mid-tide in the Fire Island Inlet. All of the photos were taken by Erik on his really nice Lumix. He really captures some great sunset shots.

We were late for the boat and thus had to abandon bringing any beer with us. This was less than ideal, but did lead to a very driven evening of fishing. I cooked up some bluefish fillets last night from the bounty we harvested from the sea. The thing about bluefish is that it tastes like bluefish. It's an acquired taste. I've heard it's good as civiche, so I need to try that some day.

Just as note to my future self, whether it is next week, year, or decade: You love fishing. Go more often.
